Our children have finished the school year and were looking forward to taking a ministry trip with their family. We were able to drive from the mountains of Andahuaylas to the coast of Lima to visit with some friends and our lawyer to start our paper work to return to the States.
Our first stop, before reaching Lima, was in Ayacucho.
We were able to see some breathtaking scenery in our travels.
Once we arrived in Lima, we wanted to see for ourselves the rumor of the first "Olive Garden" restaurant that just opened in Peru.
We were able to visit with other pastors and churches on this trip.
After our time in Lima, we were able to visit and survey the mountain state of "Junin" for the possiblity of starting a new church in the future.
Concepcion is a place with a rich heritage of heroes.
We were able to learn of the many trades done in the area (textiling, gourd painting, shaping of gold and silver, etc...).
One of the small towns is known for its trout farm. We were able to witness the vast number and sizes of the trout.
We experienced many llama crossings while driving through the mountains.
Each of us had fun pronouncing the names of the different mountain towns as we passed by them.
Our van's thermostat stopped working on our trip back to Andahuaylas. With it being "Mother's Day" weekend, we had to extend our trip an extra four days to order the part from Lima, have it transported by bus and installed before getting back on the road again.
We were able to encourage a baptist church in the area while waiting for our van to be fixed.
We were excited to be back in our own home after so much traveling but really enjoyed the fact of accomplishing so much on our trip. Jon was able to preach for a church's anniversary service, locate spanish training options, find a place to store our household items while in the States, and enjoy the fellowship with other missionaries and pastors.
