I wanted to post this three months ago when it actually happened but have been busy. Jon's Dad "Ray" was able to be with us from the end of August until the beginning of November (over two months). We cannot express the amount of joy it was to have him with us in Peru.
The picture below captured him coming out of the Lima airport after customs questioned him about some items.
Jon met him in Lima and was able to show him around for a day to allow some recuperation from the trip and to allow Jon to shop for the things on Nisha's wish list. Ray enjoyed seeing his friend from EFATA.
Jon drove Ray to Huancayo in our van. It's about an eight hour trip going over 16,000 feet before reaching our valley (Mantaro) at 11,000 feet high in the mountains.
Nisha and our children had the house decorated and were patiently waiting for our arrival. They were also in anticipation of all the stateside goodies that "Grandpa" was bringing. It was such a blessing.
My dad enjoyed the Peruvian food dishes. He is pictured below eating the "Tallarin saltado".
Within the first few days, he was actively involved in our ministry by delivering food and supplies to the needy and construction work in the church.
He helped install a sink in the bathroom, paint, etc...
I made a list of 53 projects for him to work on during his time in Peru. He finished 35 before leaving and many other things that were not even on the list. He always had something to do.
I'm going to allow "the viewers" to put their own caption to why my dad was sitting in the corner. (you can enter your comment below)
My dad was caught cutting in the cement walls to install electrical wires.
More pictures to follow of his trip to Peru.
