The end of December thru the beginning of March is classified as the Peruvian summer break from school and a good time for Vacation Bible Schools in churches. Many of the evangelical churches take advantage of the free curriculum to use for a week of VBS during the month of February. I was invited to many of these churches to participate and once again observe the customs.
Some churches participate in "Samaritan's Purse program" that provides funding to offer food and training for the children.
I was able to visit the storage shed which held the many boxes of bible curriculum for kids as well as bibles and teaching materials. Many churches from all the surrounding areas were able to come and receive the materials to use in their areas.
All of these boxes were filled with children's bibles.
Classroom space was insufficient in many of the churches where the children came to participate in VBS.
The children were excited to have bible curriculum on colored pages to help them to understand the Scriptures.
It was a blessing to be a part of handing out the "Christmas Around the World" boxes that many of the churches and donators gave from the States.
What a tremendous opportunity to show God's love for the children in the different churches.
