Jon was asked to provide some entertainment for a wedding reception. He came up with the idea of "How To Find the Right Wife". Many other single adults are looking for the right one out there. How did the groom narrow the list down to know that the bride was the right one for him? Putting aside the obvious of needing to be saved, right with God, and pursuit of same profession; Jon made a list which included: hard-working, beautiful, intelligent, and able to cook. Each would include a skit that would test the ability of each. Of course, there was not enough time to do them all properly but it was fun.
Miguel and Gloria were the groom and bride.
The hard-working skit was accomplished by having a cow milking contest. Jon traced a cow on some plywood (8'x4') while our children had fun painting it. Jon cut it out and framed it so that a bucket with holes on the bottom could hold a surgical glove filled with water and a pin size hole in the finger tips could be used as utters.
Katie is pictured below testing the cow milking contest. We decided to call the cow "Betsy".
How many wedding receptions have a cow milking contest? It provided some laughs. For the intelligence test, Jon had the groom lift up boxes and identify items of different professions (doctor, soldier, chef, pastor, etc) but when it was the bride's turn we placed the groom's head under one of the boxes.
