September 2022 Prayer Letter Update

 To Our Faithful Supporters,

1 Chronicles 16:8 says “Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.”

God is good and we thank Him for …

  • Allowing us to minister to the Peruvians in Chontabamba as we meet each Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday in person without restrictions as the church.
  • Healing me, Jon, from a Covid infection in August and protecting us from further sickness and crime which has been on the rise in this time of Covid.
  • Allowing our Pastor and his two sons to come visit us and experience our ministry in Chontabamba at the end of August.
  • Giving us traveling mercies while traveling to Lima and surrounding villages.
  • Allowing us to share the Gospel, pass out food bags, visit the sick, and meet the needs of those here in Perú.
  • Our building fund has increased these last couple of months and we thank those who have prayed and given to help us.
  • Being able to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary in July.
  • The opportunity to celebrate Perú’s Thanksgiving and Independence Day with a churchwide lunch and fellowship.
  • The 131st anniversary of the Province of Oxapampa where we count it a privilege to serve.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”.  Philippians 4:6

We ask for and appreciate your prayers for the following:

  • We’ve been able to start our Oasis Kids Club on Thursday of each week and have been blessed to see many kids returning but there are times it is only Nisha and I as adults to run the program. We need helpers to effectively run the club and not be overwhelmed with over 40 children.
  • We are praying that God will provide someone qualified to continue the ministry for us so that we may be able to take a furlough in the fall of 2023.
  • We ask that you’d prayer that we will be able to obtain adequate land and building space for the growth of the church.
  • Our children, Matthew, Nathan, Becca, and Katie, have begun classes again at college and are maintaining their jobs as they continue to trust God to provide and meet their needs.
  • Our son, Matthew, has submitted his documents to obtain a visa for his fiancé, Paty, to come to the States and is waiting for approval, which usually takes a year.
  • Nisha and I are seeking to submit the needed paperwork to apply for a permanent residence visa. Please pray that we will be approved and not charged extra fees.

I don’t know what difficulties you’ve had to face these last couple of months but verse 11 of I Chronicles 16 states, “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.” This is a good reminder that we need the Lord. Thank you for your faithful support that allows us to preach the Gospel here in the jungle of Perú.

Serving a Great God,

Jon & Nisha Harris
