Missions Survey trip to Huanuco, Tingo Maria, and Cerro de Pasco

What a blessing to be able to survey areas of Peru with needs of sharing the Gospel and establishing more churches. Our adventure began while on route to Huanuco and seeing different small towns on the way. We praise the Lord for safety on the roads. We were traveling during the rainy season in the mountains which causes many mud slides and road damage. We received word the next morning that the road that we had just traveled was unpassable due to four mud slides and the river overflowing and taking out half of the road.

The area we visited is known for its mining.

The Peruvians will celebrate by planting a tree with gifts in it and take turns with a machete to cut the tree down and to receive the gifts.

What a blessing to be able to visit and preach in the churches established in Huanuco. The Pastors shared with us the burden and vision to establish more churches in areas still without a Gospel preaching church.

Traveling to Tingo Maria meant crossing flooded areas as well as climbing high mountains and traveling through the clouds.

We were very grateful to the pastor for sharing with us areas without a church and taking us to overlooks of the city and public parks in the area. It was a privilege to preach to his congregation.

Tingo Mario is also known for producing much fruit and chocolate.

Traveling on the other side of the river to visit other Baptist churches and see their ministries to the community.

Visiting a public cave and hearing the bats and birds inside was exciting.

The jungle of Peru always has its own appeal from the animals to the unique traditions.

Because the road to return was still blocked from the mud slides, we opted to take the back roads around the blocked areas rather than wait a few weeks for repairs. The back roads proved to be even more challenging and adventurous.

It took longer than planned but thankful to have arrived to Cerro de Pasco. One of the highest cities in the world. This means that it is cold most of the year. It's also a city known for mining and very dirty. Once adjusting to all of the altitude, we visited the people to get an idea of the Spiritual needs of the area. It was discouraging to hear of other false denominations in the city but no Baptist Churches.

Thankful to have visited these areas for the first time and to be able to preach in churches and see the needed areas to establish more churches.
