Our second month in Chontabamba

Our second month being in Chontabamba from April 15th through May 15th has been a steady focus on starting the church. We came up with the church name (Mount Calvary Baptist Church), printed tracts, purchased a church banner, and continued to build relationships with others by opening our home.
Nisha gets comfortable shopping in the open market each Saturday for fresh fruit and vegetables.
Neighbor kids daily ring our door bell to visit.
On good Friday during the Easter week (Semana Santa) we offered a video night to invite our neighbors and to share the gospel. We had over 30 people attend.
We began meeting on the Easter Sunday (Resurrection Day) in the morning. Our family set up the church in the garage and had over 20 attend.
That Sunday night we showed the Jesus film and had over 30 people attend.
We began a kids club to meet every Thursday and has been received in the area very well.

We are excited to see the interest of those coming to church each Sunday and Thursday.

What a joy to see our girls making new friends and getting involved in the ministry.

We have been able to purchase church tracts to give out the Gospel and to promote the church in the area.

A church banner that lights up each evening was installed and is now visible for all to see.

What a blessing to see the transformation and growth of the church.

We praise God for His working in the growth of the church. We're thankful to all of our supporters who are praying and making it possible to establish this church. This last Thursday kids club was our highest attendance of 31 kids and 9 adults.

First month in Chontabamba

Our first month in Chontabamba from March 15th to April 15th has been filled with all kinds of adventures. We needed to get settled into our rented house and begin ministering at the same time. Even though there were obstacles to overcome like the river flooding, roads destroyed, landslides, rain and more rain, along with the house not completed and ready for us, we kept trusting in God's timing for everything to work out.
We took some time to visit and minister in surrounding ministries. I was able to preach and introduce our vision of starting a new church in Chontabamba.

Much work needed to be done in order to get the house ready to live in and to use for ministry. I'm thankful for each member of the family working hard together.
We closed in the garage to be used to store items and for the auditorium of the church.
Internet was installed and electricity was repaired after a fire started from three areas that crossed paths toward each other.

Even our dog (Max) and our cat (Kit) had to adjust to their new locations.

Relationships with neighbor kids have begun with games and activities.

Pictured below is  the town hall in Oxapampa with the Peru flag and the Oxapampa flag.

Our family has visited some of the area attractions that many tourists come to see when visiting Oxapampa.

Oxapampa was started as a German immigrant town and still holds to some of the German culture during their festivals.
