A costly mistake

We receive our support once a month, and on that day we go around and pay all of our bills and go grocery shopping. On this day our second stop was to buy some groceries for 115 soles (which is roughly $45). We used our debit card at the cash register. The worker swiped our card the first time and nothing happened; so she swiped our card the second time, still nothing happened. The third time she punched in the wrong number thinking it was not registering properly. After the third attempt she realized that there was no paper in the machine to give the printed receipts. After putting the paper in the machine, it printed three transactions for 115, 115, and 11,555.20. Not knowing how to run the machine properly, she attempted to cancel them but could not. After talking to the manager and calling our bank and the stores bank to cancel the transactions, nothing was able to be done right away. We would have to wait for a week to allow all the paper work and the debit process to be cancelled. We are in Peru and not in the States. We put out an unspoken prayer request to be able to get the funds back to pay our bills in time.

The manager and workers calling their bank to get the money back.
Eleven days after the incident, we were able to get our money transferred back into our bank account. Glory to God for working it all out in the end.
