Family vacation in Peru (Part 1) Cusco

We had to travel from Andahuaylas to Abancay which is a dirt road and rough terrain. Within the last mile before we would reach the paved roads, the van hit a rock that punctured our transmission pan and began to leak. We had to be towed into the city of Abancay to get it fixed before making our way to Cusco that night.

So thankful that Jon was able to find and reserve an apartment in Cusco ahead of time. It was just what we needed after waiting for the van to get fixed and the day of traveling. Cheaper than a hotel, this apartment had three bedrooms, kitchen, two bathrooms, dining and living room.
Our children enjoyed the park just down the road from the apartment.

We invited the owner of the apartment to play games with us and was able to share with them our ministry in Peru and what God has done.

This was the first trip to Cusco with my wife and all our children.

Of course, they wanted to go to McDonald's, simply because it reminded them of the States and they enjoyed it.

The plaza in the center of Cusco.
They didn't want any jay walkers, so they had people dressed up, holding signs, and snapping their whips at anyone passing the streets.
Our children are into "angry birds" and have made their own club.
Matthew tries on the hat and turns himself into a "happy bird".
Our twin girls are waiting for the right time to pass the road with all the traffic.

Walking under the water fall was pretty cool.
The Indian Market in Cusco sells many of the Peruvian trinkets.
Our girls think that every dog needs to be petted. It sure opens up doors to talk to strangers.
Nisha and the girls were intrigued with the alpaca furs.
